Summer Opportunities Fair: Even more not-to-be-missed organizations!

As the Summer Opportunities Fair has grown to include over 100 organizations and programs, we asked our student blogger to select even more not-to-be-missedopportunities. Here are her additional picks!

Let’s Go Student Publications
What it is:
Founded at Harvard in 1960, Let’s Go is a world-renowned travel guide series researched, written, edited, and run entirely by students.
Fun fact:
Writers for Let’s Go receive an all-expenses paid trip to the destination about which they write for the publication.

US Department of the Treasury
What it is:
The Treasury Department is the executive agency responsible for promoting economic prosperity and ensuring the financial security of the United States.
Fun fact:
Some responsibilities for this federal department are: producing all currency, coinage and postage stamps of the U.S., paying all of the country’s bills, supervising national banks and thrift institutions, enforcing tax laws and investigating tax evaders, and publishing statistical reports.

Harvard China Fund
What it is:
Harvard University’s “academic venture fund” for China. It supports teaching and research on China and promotes Harvard’s presence in China.
Fun fact:
The Harvard China Fund has three core objectives: to prepare Harvard students for a lifelong engagement with China; to promote interdisciplinary teaching and research about and in China, and to strengthen Harvard’s capacity to address challenges facing China.

ConRuhr (Consortium of the Ruhr Area Universities)
What it is:
A nonprofit that seeks to promote, support and facilitate academic collaborations between UAMR Universities and partners in the United States and Canada.
Fun fact:
ConRuhr is one of several German liaison offices established through an initiative by the German Academic Exchange Service, which accepted combined applications from institutions of higher educations and now supports the selected offices with already established contacts and office space.

Explo
What it is:
A world-wide leader in summer academic enrichment seeking highly motivated and creative college and graduate students from all academic discipline.
Fun fact:
Explo has three programs: one at Yale University (for students entering grades 10-12), at Wellesley College (for students entering grades 8-9), and at St. Mark’s School (for students entering grades 4-7).

About

Welcome to the Harvard FAS Office of Career Services blog.

Each year, OCS hosts more events, workshops, panels, and career fairs than any one student could possibly attend. If you missed an event, or wish you’d taken notes, our student bloggers will fill in the gaps.

Bear in mind, the programs featured here represent just a handful; visit the OCS website for the complete lineup.

Questions? Comments? Contributions?

If you’d like to share your OCS experiences, feel free to email the blog manager: akirchner [at] fas.harvard.edu.
